How To Bet

The minimum bet is $2, but the base bet for some multiple bets is $1. Because of possible winning combinations, they will actually be more than the $1 base. For example, The $1 base bet for a 3 Dog Key bet is actually $2 because of the two possible ways to win.

You may place your bet at the Teller window or use a FastBet self betting card which allows you to place bets at tracks across the U.S. at any self-serve terminal. FastBet cards are free and may be obtained at the customer service window with a cash deposit.

Once you have placed your bet and the race is over, hold on to your ticket and watch for an official sign. Customers are asked to hold tickets until the red light or signal signifying the official placing of the dogs has been made. There can be no payouts for lost, stolen or mutilated tickets.

We are happy to allow bets of any sort and ticket cash outs all at the same window transaction. But remember to cash out your winning ticket first if you plan to make your next bet with the proceeds.

Odds are approximate and are computer generated, changing automatically during the process of betting. They can be viewed on the track’s tote board, or television screen.

With odds of 4-1, you’ll get four times your stake back if you win. Bet $1 and you are paid out $5. $4 is your winnings and $1 is your stake back.

A program informs you of a particular dog’s history so that you can make a more informed wager. It states race history, most recent starts, grade and competition.

WAGERING TERMS

WIN     The 1st dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to win, you collect a payoff only if your selection finishes first. This wager is available for all races.

PLACE     The 2nd dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to place, you collect a payoff if your selection finishes first or second. This wager is available for all races.

SHOW     The 3rd dog to cross the finish line. If you bet to show, you collect a payoff if your selection places first, second or third. This wager is available for all races.

DAILY DOUBLE     Winners of two consecutive races. Select the winning dogs in two consecutive races to collect on the daily double.

TRIFECTA (or Trio)     The first THREE dogs to cross the finish line produce the Trifecta. In a Trifecta bet, you select THREE dogs in the order of finish. You win if your selections finish first, second and third in the EXACT order you picked.

TRIFECTA KEY     You choose at least 3 or more selections. Your KEY selection MUST finish in the position selected (1st, 2nd or 3rd) and the other 2 selections can finish in any order. If you choose to bet a 3 Dog Key, you will receive 2 bets. At a base cost of $1 each, your bet cost $2 total. You may also choose to increase your bet to a $2 base bet for a total cost of $4. In a 4 Dog Key, you receive 6 bets; 5 Dog Key, 12 bets; 6 Dog Key, 20 bets; 7 Dog Key, 30 bets; and 8 Dog Key, 42 bets.

TRIFECTA PART WHEEL     Make your selections of finishers for first and second. Combine them with the Greyhounds you think will finish third. You can select as many combinations as you like to finish first, second and third. An example of 4 $1 bets is: #1 with the #2 and #3 with the #4 and #5. If the finish is 1-2-4, 1-2-5, 1-3-4 or 1-3-5, you win.

TWIN TRIFECTA     The minimum bet for a twin Trifecta is $2. You must make 3 selections to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the first half. When betting, make your selection in the order you think they will finish such as #3, #2, #1. When you win the 1st half, you MUST cash your ticket and make the 2nd half selection BEFORE betting closes to be eligible for the Twin Trifecta.

QUINIELA     The first 2 dogs to cross the finish line produce the Quiniela. In a Quiniela bet, you select 2 dogs to finish first and second. You win if your selections finish first or second, regardless of the order.

QUINIELA PART WHEEL     Select finishers for either 1st or 2nd and combine with at least 2 other selections to finish either first or 2nd. A minimum $2 base bet, you minimum cost is $4. Place your wager by stating #1 with the #5 and #8. (If the finish is 1-5, 5-1, 1-8, or 8-1, you win.)

QUINIELA BOX     Make at least 3 or more selections. If 2 of your selections finish 1st or 2nd, you win. Minimum base wager cost is $6 for 3 bets.

EXACTA     In an Exacta bet, you select the first 2 dogs. You win if your selections finish 1st and 2nd in the EXACT order you picked. This wager is available in all races.

PICK #     To win a Pick bet, you must select the winning runners in said number of consecutive races. Most common pick bets are Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 6.

TRI-SUPER     To win a Tri-Super you must select the 1st 3 dogs in the exact order of finish for the first half race. Then before the second half race, you must exchange your ticket and select the 1st 4 dogs in the exact order of finish. If there are no winners, the jackpot carries over to the next night.

SUPERFECTA     The first 4 dogs to cross the finish line produce the Superfecta. In a Superfecta bet, you select 4 dogs. You win if your selections finish first, second, third, and fourth in the exact order.

SUPERFECTA BOX     Make 4 selections to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in any order of finish. You win when your selections finish 1,2,3,4 in any order. Based on a $2 bet, your minimum total cost is $48. You are actually making 24 $2 bets.

SUPERFECTA KEY     Choose a KEY selection to win and 3 other selections. Your key selection MUST WIN and the other 3 must finish 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in any order. Based on a $2 bet, your minimum total cost is $12. Based on a $1 bet, your minimum cost is $6.

BOXING     This means you select any number of dogs (3 or more) in a “box.” In a Trifecta box, if your dogs finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any order, you win. In a Quiniela Box, if any 2 selections finish1st and 2nd in any order, you win.

WHEELING     This is picking a key dog, which you choose to finish 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) with any other possible combination of dogs. A $1 Trifecta “wheel” in an 8-dog race costs $42, with 42 different combination wins which produce a winning payoff – all with just one ticket. For example, if you wheel #8 to win, and it wins, you are winner regardless of which dogs finish 2nd or 3rd.
